Black History Month

It is always an honour to present the Black History Month assembly. Learning about this part of history and celebrating our differences is vital in bringing together the school community. By shining a light on just a few Black icons, and exploring their diverse stories, I hope I can start some important conversations and ultimately show the school that greatness can come from anywhere.

House Competition Harvest Collection

This year harvest festival will be celebrated on 1st October.

Harvest Festival celebrates the time of year when crops have been gathered from the field and people can reflect and show gratitude for the food that they have.

Starting this week, houses will be competing to see who can collect the most items over the harvest period. Bring your items to you house office.

Please donate tinned items or items in sealed packets only.

On the last week before half term, we will count the items and announce the winning house.

Al items collected will then be donated to a local food bank.

Well done to all of the Year 9 boys who took part in their first match of the season against Heath Park.

There were plenty of positives from the match. The boys showed great fight throughout challenging for every ball. There was plenty to take from the game, which shows that the boys have the foundations of a good side.

Apps Update

Wednesfield Academy will be using Classcharts to log pupils’ behaviour and praise points. The new Weduc app will be used for parental communication such as sending letters home. Once the issues with WeDuc are resolved Wednesfield will not longer use the My Child At School App at all. The reason the MCAS app is still being used to send letters home currently is due to the problems with the Weduc app that we are working with the company to resolve. We apologise for the confusion caused, and are trying to rectify matters as soon as possible.

Sports Day 2023

The day finally arrived; the long-awaited Sports Day 2023!  Pupils and staff were prepared for all eventualities including the weather and despite the rain during the morning the call was made for the event to go ahead and we are really glad that it did!

Firstly, the PE department want to say how proud we all are of all the participants involved. Everyone was respectful, supportive of each other and behaved in a sensible and mature manner. The sportsmanship between houses, teams and individuals was superb and your spectator etiquette was commendable. The level of ability and enthusiasm in the track and field events was amazing to see and it shows the hard work the pupils have put in over the last year to create such a competitive day.

MANY CONGRATULATIONS TO KENILWORTH HOUSE FOR WINNING THE SPORTS DAY TROPHY!

Also, a massive thank you to all the staff who was involved, it truly was a fantastic day and to see so many people smiling was brilliant to see. A big shout out to all the teachers who took part in the teacher race and of course congratulations to the PE department (Miss Nash, Miss Morris, Mr Harris & Mr Parsons) for winning.
