Team Building Day

On Tuesday 12th December, 50 students across the Matrix Schools met at Barr Beacon to find out more about their “Far From Home” Italian adventure as part of the Turing Scheme. The day consisted of meeting their staff, team building activities and learning more about where they are going. This of course would not have been complete without a “surviving Italy” language taster session from a native Italian, as well as tasting some authentic Italian dishes such as ‘Melanzane alla Parmigiana’ ‘Patate, Gorgonzola e Chorizo’ and a choice of ‘Antipasti’ to awaken their taste buds. The day was finished off by writing a Christmas card back to their pen pal in our partner school in Rome, we cannot wait to visit and meet them in person!

The Holocaust Educational Trust.

Year 9 pupils were given the amazing opportunity to take part in an online outreach event by The Holocaust Educational Trust. Pupils engaged in an emotive talk by Lu Lawrence, daughter of Holocaust survivor Zigi Shipper BEM. Lu has taken up the mantle of sharing her father’s testimony as a member of the second generation. She spoke about her father’s experience as well as her your own Jewish identity and why Holocaust remembrance is so important to her.

Cadets support the Royal British Legion

We are extremely proud of two of our Year 8 cadets who gave up their own time at the weekend to support the British Legion by selling poppies as part of Remembrance Day.

The pupils Cadet Davis and Virk sold poppies in conjunction with the local ATC 196 (Walsall) Squadron on Bloxwich High Street.

An excellent example of our academy values!

Themed Menus

We are delighted to launch our themed menus for 2023/24 off the back of our very successful new menu for the academic year.

These special days are an opportunity to celebrate events, festivals and cultures from around the world across all of the Matrix Academy Trust schools. Not only will these provide pupils with a wide range of food experiences but will also compliment our Personal Development curriculum and Theme of the Week.

Watch this space for more updates on our menus and the wonderful food that we will be offering as part of these events.

Black History Month

It is always an honour to present the Black History Month assembly. Learning about this part of history and celebrating our differences is vital in bringing together the school community. By shining a light on just a few Black icons, and exploring their diverse stories, I hope I can start some important conversations and ultimately show the school that greatness can come from anywhere.
