Fourteen Year 8 pupils at Wednesfield Academy have been selected to participate in The Scholars Programme, an academic initiative run by The Brilliant Club. This education charity is dedicated to widening access to the UK’s most selective universities for exceptional pupils attending non-selective state schools.
As part of the programme, our pupils are currently taking part in a series of university-style tutorials delivered in school by Dr Waksh Awais, a Lecturer in Accounting at Aston University. The tutorials explore the theme “What is Money?” and are taking place during the Spring and Summer terms. Throughout the programme, pupils will complete a series of written assignments designed to develop their academic skills.
At the end of the programme, pupils will attend a Graduation Event at a university. This celebration will recognise their achievements and further develop their understanding of higher education.
