Holocaust 360 and Auschwitz

Students in year 9 and 12 were able to take part in Testimony 360 provided by the Holocaust Educational Trust. It is a project that combines digital eyewitness testimony with virtual reality which revolutionises the way students access survivor testimony providing an invaluable opportunity for students learning about the Holocaust.

Our students followed the story of Manfred Goldberg (MBE) from his early life through to his experiences during the Holocaust. It is a powerful resource for students to hear the real-life stories of these individuals and connect with their story through virtual reality, even allowing students to ask their own questions to the survivor.

Students commented that "It gave the Holocaust personal meaning as it was connected to a real, visible person instead of a name in a textbook".

Another student said that "There was a personal connection that you don't get when reading about it in a book. It really felt like you were there and talking to Manfred and asking him questions about his life"

Year 12 students had the opportunity to visit Auschwitz as part of the educational and commemorative project. The project offers post-16 students the opportunity to learn about the Holocaust and consider its relevance for today through the bespoke interactive online platform, two seminars and a one-day visit to Poland.
